When I went to type up my progress today, I found a bunch of notes on random things I'd seen and heard and meant to tell y'all.

One of the regulars is a man in his sixties. He always wears a newsboy cap; he looks rather like a retired science teacher. One day he came in with a Mercedes Lackey library book; the next time I saw him, a few days later, it was Julian May.

-----

On the way in one day, there was a car at a traffic light with the window open. The driver was a scowling man, smoking a cigarette, and looking out the window next to him was a very hostile-looking white chihuahua.

-----

Most of the employees are happy just to play NPR on the radio, but one of them likes to play CDs. I'm happy when it's not Kenny Wayne Shepherd. One of his favorites is Dave Matthews Band, but when "Crash" comes on, he'll skip over it -- which takes some doing, since the CD player is over the kitchen door where you can't get at it without a ladder. "I love this song," he confides to the girl who's working with him, "but I just can't play it here. It doesn't seem right."

-----

Overheard behind the counter: "No, we're nice to each other. The horse likes me."

-----

A college girl on the opposite couch strikes up a conversation with me as I sit down: "This is the only place I can really get any studying done. Like, real studying, you know, because the library -- forget it." Then she proceeds to spend the entire morning having conversations on her cell phone, many of which involve telling the other person that she can only really get any studying done here. (She's studying marketing. This does not surprise me.)

-----

My hair stylist: "I went on vacation, and when I came back I had five hundred e-mails, so I deleted them all and threw the e-mail program away."

Hello. I was wondering if you were the author of a Harry Potter fic called "Tansfigurations" or something of the like. I heard it was good and I'm interested in reading it... but I don't know where to find it. So, can you point me in the right direction? :DDDD Thanks!

[livejournal.com profile] resonant8 is indeed the author of Transfigurations (http://trickster.org/res/transfig.html). I can only speak from personal experience, but I think it's excellent, in fact I think it's my favourite HP fic.
