"Where's the originality in intolerance these days? That's the real problem with bigoted quizzes, no creativity, no wit, no flair, no SNARK. Let's face it, homophobic websites need gay writers."

I just discovered it yesterday. But I think it's kind of new.

Jennifer Crusie is a very fine writer of romantic comedies, and I also eat up anything she writes about the process of writing itself.

Thanks, do you have a favorite book? Maybe I'll make a trip to the library.

She wrote a lot of books as series romances (Harlequin Temptation, I believe) which are now being re-released as single-title. I hope she's making some serious money off them at last.

Haven't re-read most of them, but I remember them fondly from my last romance-reading period. I adored Charlie All the Time, Getting Rid of Bradley, and What the Lady Wants. (The latter is the one where the hero is described as having "a face like a catcher's mitt with a jaw.")

She wrote a novella-length romance called Sizzle for some sort of Harlequin promotion, and if you can find it anywhere, it's amazing. The only story I've ever read in which the heroine is faced with a boyfriend who never listens, and solves the problem using bondage!

Her books are the ones that I've got scattered around the house, so that when the kidlet is old enough to be curious to read about sex, she'll start with stories where the people actually like each other.

My favourite is Strange Bedpersons. There's a scene at the end where the heroine is buying a thank-you present for a perfectly awful dinner party that has me howling with laughter every time I read it.

I went looking for Jennifer Crusie's website after I read this post and the blog. There's some really interesting stuff in the essays on her non-fiction page. Thanks for pointing out the link.

OMG, I didn't know she had a feed! Whee!

I'm on her writers list and, while I only lurk in the shadows and soak up the smarts, I practically memorize everything she posts. She's a good teacher. And funny as hell. You would be a great addition -- let me know if you're interested in joining and I'll send you info.
