We have achieved new-pet integration

This morning Barnabas (new kitten) and Powder (staid middle-aged cat) were actually playing together. Awkwardly, to be sure -- Barnabas really isn't 100% confident he doesn't need to be afraid of Powder, and Powder is conscious of her dignity and out of practice in kittenish frisking -- but playing together just the same.

I'm so relieved.

New kitten! This is what I get for not being on LJ much lately, I miss all the good news. Hurray Barnabas. And hurray for that moment when they decide that possibly they will not hate each other forever, too; what a relief that is. :) Congrats!

Oh, yay!! That's a fantastic sign! Hopefully Powder will get all maternal (and teach him the rules of the house) and Barnabas will be tackling her with demands to PLAYPLAYPLAY very soon. \o/

I'm so jealous. I would love to have a second kitty to play with my slightly crazy cat, but I was told by the animal-care-thingy (too lazy to look up English phrase) where I got her that she doesn't get along with other cats and I just fell too hard for her not to get her then and there... Oh well, I think she might go for dogs, though. Certainly behaves like one.
