The main conflict in the book shouldn't be able to be resolved with one conversation!

I don't really need to know all that backstory up front! No, no, I don't! I'll roll with you for a while if you give me a person I care about who's actually doing something.
A character needs to want something! And make some effort to get it!
Books that are part of a series need to say so on the cover! And also in the library listing! So I won't keep accidentally checking out Book 3 of 5!
I realize that this is not easy, but in a romance, I need to be able to understand why the characters should be together and also why they are not already together!
Almost nobody outside of fandom can competently write sexual tension!
