Poor [livejournal.com profile] northernveil is having to defend the existence of Pippi Longstocking slash in her own LJ. And she's not even the one who wrote it.

Our attacker would probably be shocked, shocked, to learn that nearly 100% of the people who read and love children's books will eventually have sex!

In closing, a semi-relevant and very ancient chat log. (Is Kira even on LJ? Anybody know? And, [livejournal.com profile] sanj, if this Sandy isn't you, my apologies.)

Kira: This falls into the category of 'beloved childhood objects which one is not allowed to suggest might be having sex, much less with eachother.'
resonant: Psst. Kira. The Velveteen Rabbit and Winnie-the-Pooh were doin' it.
[livejournal.com profile] liviapenn: The Velveteen Rabbit doesn't even have limbs!
resonant: The Velveteen Rabbit only has one less arm than Krycek.
Kira: you leave ratboy out of this.
Kira: he will sully the toys.
[livejournal.com profile] julad: Mmm, sullied toys.
Kira: I hate you all.
Kira: you are evil evil people.
Kira collects her bunny and goes off to the corner to have a nice. safe, vanilla, tea party
[livejournal.com profile] sanj offers Kira a seat on the flannel cushions in the Vanilla Corner.
[livejournal.com profile] julad: Vanilla Corner. there's a title begging for a story.
[livejournal.com profile] liviapenn: "And Winnie the Pooh moved to Vanilla Corner, where he wrote gay erotica under the name of Saunders."

*giggles*

Winnie the Pooh is terribly gay, he really is. I love him, and I admit that he's a roly poly honey loving bear, but his personality is SO homo. It's just endearing. He's kind of... an antique book collecting, daffy gay. You sort of want to drop in to visit him all the time, bring him different kinds of honey and have tea with him. While he bumbles.

*gasp* My god. Pooh Bear is Aziraphale's sekrit identity.

What are you thinking?! Don't tell everyone one!! It's a SEKRIT identity.

Heeey... are you Crowley's sekrit journal? waitaminute!

Wow. That's perfect.

Can't locate Crowley in the Hundred Acre Wood, though -- maybe he's from the Hundred Mile Chasm next door.

I'm just dying here, and feeling the need to hunt down the Pooh Sutra again. Heee! Any objections to my sigging this, do you think? The lovely thing about sigs in my LJ is I can leave 'em any damn length I want.

And I thought your Pippi Longstocking story was lovely, though my intermittent cable problems have forestalled me saying so. Made me want to dig out my books. Mind you, I fear rereading childhood favorites for these very reasons...

I think my angry acquaintance has finally given up and stalked off in disgust. I don't think he's ever liked the idea of slash, but now he's also doubly influenced by expecting a baby in a couple of months. I figure that it's hormones. ;)

Seeing as Pippi invented the word "Spunk", I don't think we need to worry about her innocence, either :oP

Too bad it doesn't have that meaning in Swedish, mm? It's a nonsense word here. :)

It's a spinoff of those "[insert something] - my Anti-Drug" commercials. In my case, it represents my English obsession.

And yes, I relalized that you probably knew that spunk" isn't a word in Swedish - I just couldn't help pointing it out. ;)

Well, I hope he shapes up before he becomes one of those parents who think the whole internet ought to be censored to as to spare his darling baby from anything traumatic.

I loved that the argument basically boiled down to "You're just doing it for shock value" and "But what about the writers' feeeeeeelings?" I mean, if my priority were to not hurt anyone's feelings, I'd be something other than a writer, that's for sure.

You are aware of The Hundred-Acre Wood fandom (http://www.livejournal.com/users/makesmewannadie/79236.html), are you not? Because it is ALIVE AND WELL.

Yeah, back in the days when chat was an obsession for me, rather than just a utility.

I had no idea! I wonder how many other people I know are out there wandering around under different names. [goes off to read ban_sidhe's lj]
