For Steve and cooking, you might want to check out the online info from the What's Cooking, Uncle Sam? exhibit. I went to see the exhibit with a friend, and we both came out of it wanting a story about Steve's culture shock over 21-st century American food culture.
Seriously, Steve grew up in a 1930's tenement in Brooklyn. He probably puts extra fat into every dish now that he can afford to, and still thinks of butter and milk as different food groups.
