If you're stuck, I'll put my hand up. ("annie.out.there [at]gmail.com") I haven't beta'd for Discworld stuff before but I did just finish reading "I Shall Wear Midnight" so I'm in a bit of a Discworld mood.
(Having said that, I mostly remember Cheery Littlebottom as the not-assumed-male dwarf on the Watch, with... little other rememberance of Cheery's backstory. But for 500 words, canon shouldn't be a huge issue.)
It's funny how I think I don't remember it well, but there's a lot of trivia stored away when I think of it. Like Sybil's love for dragons, and Vimes' occasional need to follow his wife's social cues. *laughs*
